How Nudge Routines Improve Medication Adherence with Gentle Reminders

Effective medication management is crucial for maintaining good health, but it can be a daunting task, especially for those with complex medication regimens. At Nudge Device, we're dedicated to simplifying medication management with our innovative technology. In this post, we'll explore how Nudge's core feature, "Routine", helps improve medication adherence and makes managing medication doses easier.

The Importance of Medication Adherence

Medication adherence is critical for achieving optimal health outcomes. However, it's estimated that up to 50% of patients don't take their medication as prescribed, leading to reduced efficacy, increased healthcare costs, and poor health outcomes. Nudge is designed to address this issue by providing a simple and effective way to manage medication doses.

What is a Routine?

A Routine is a time window when you usually take your dose. You can configure your Routine by setting a specific time, and Nudge will remind you to take your medication within a one-hour window. For example, if you set your evening dose for 7 PM, the Routine window will be active from 6 PM to 8 PM.

How Does a Typical Routine Work?

Let's walk through a typical evening Routine:

  1. Starting at 6 PM, if you take your medication, Nudge will detect it and assume you've taken your dose. No alarms will sound.
  2. If you haven't taken your dose by 7 PM, Nudge will light up and start pulsing green to grab your attention.
  3. If you still haven't taken your dose by 7:30 or 7:45, Nudge will beep three times to remind you.
  4. In the final minute, at 7:59 PM, Nudge will make a final beep.
  5. At 8:00 PM Nudge services will send you an email and notification reminding you about the missed dose.
  6. If you still haven't taken your dose, the light will turn solid green, indicating a missed dose.
  7. (Optional) There’s also an advanced option in Routines to remind you with a phone notification at the beginning or in the middle of a routine.

* Note: At any point, taking your medication off Nudge, taking a dose, and placing it back will stop the alarms.

Customizing Your Routine

You can set up a recurring Routine to happen once a day, twice a day, or up to six times a day. Additionally, there's an advanced option to receive a notification at the beginning or middle of a Routine.
